Accomplishments
The work of the Child Care and Development Planning
Council has resulted in the following accomplishments:

Further Accomplishments include:
- Recognition of Family Child Care Providers that
included an annual Child Care Provider Recognition Event based on a
Planning Council system of tracking and recognizing training hours,
1991-1993.
- Support of legislation that enhances the quality
and funding of child care, ongoing.
- Development of a Child Care Activity Training Service
(CATS) monthly training calendar and phone line listing trainings, conferences
and events in child care, 1994. Available at the YMCA Childcare Resource
Service, 1.800.481.2151.
- Survey of elementary and middle school programs
for infant, preschool, school age children, 1997.
- Funding (in conjunction with the San Diego County
Cable Network) for the video "In Your Child's Best Interest: Assessing
Quality Child Care," 1997. This video is available in both Spanish and
English at the YMCA Childcare Resource Service, 1.800.481.2151.
- Organization of a Training Collaborative, bringing
together interested organizations to assess and promote child care and
development training being done in the county, April, 1998.
- Development and implementation of language for the
Oliver's Law Legislation, which requires Resource & Referral agencies
to inform parents of their right to review the history of child care
providers at Community Care Licensing, 1999.
- Organization of a series of Child Care Provider
Workshops throughout the County to help providers understand about CalWORKs
and the importance of their role in helping families' move from welfare
to work, June, 1999.
- Development and implementation of an Internet based
Centralized Eligibility List (CEL) combining the three Alternative Payment
Programs in San Diego Couny, www.childcaresandiego.com,
Oct., 1999
- Development of County priorities for child care
services, "Priorities for Child Care in San Diego County," which included
two public hearings, Jan., 2000
- Presentation of a Legislation, 2000 informational
session on key child care issues for elected officials, legislative
aides and County officials, Feb., 2000.
- Annual public hearings on child care issues.
